Mythological Importance: Dedicated to Lord Ayyappa, son of Shiva and Mohini (Vishnu's female avatar), Sabarimala is named after Sabari, a Ramayana devotee who met Lord Rama and Ayyappa. The temple embodies the Advaita philosophy "Tat Tvam Asi" ("Thou Art That"), symbolizing self-realization.
